A section of delegates in the Bantama Constituency has pledged its support for Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Francis Asenso-Boakye's bid for New Patriotic Party's Member of Parliament candidature going into the December polls.
Mr Asenso-Boakye is up for an intense contest with incumbent Member of Parliament, Daniel Okyem Aboagye.
There are suggestions Mr. Assenso Boakye enjoys presidential support amid allegations of vote-buying to see him through. None of the allegations have been substantiated.
However, a group whose members claim to be NPP members in the Bantama Constituency think otherwise.
They told JoyNews' Erastus Asare Donkor that Mr Asenso-Boakye has gone out of his way to see to the some developmental activities.
A spokesperson for the group, Fredrick Owusu said "the delegates are ready to vote for him because of the goods he is dong for the community... we voted for Okyem Aboagye and his performance has been abysmal."
"Hon Asenso-Boakyeis Deputy Chief of Staff. He has no budget, but he has been doing a lot for the constituency that's why the delegates are ready to vote for him to become member of parliament for Bantama," Mr Owusu added.
The group held the addressed a press conference in Kumasi June 19, ahead of the primaries on Saturday.
