More communities in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region have been connected to the national power grid under the government's current Rural Electrification Project.
This brings the total electricity coverage of the area to over 70 percent, with the remaining unserved communities expected to be connected soon.
District Chief Exercutive (DCE) of the area Phanuel Kadey Donkor disclosed this when he paid a working visit to some of the communities to highlight the successes of the government and the Assembly's projects in the area.
The meeting, being replicated in all Assemblies, was under the auspices of the Ministries of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and Information (MoF).
Mr Donkor hopes that in few months, the Adaklu District would have all communities connected to the national grid
Residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their joy at having electricity for the first time after several appeals in the past when unheeded.
"We are happy we now have light so we can preserve our foodstuffs and also help boost our economic activities," a resident said.
School Children in the beneficiary communities are also happy because they can now have light to study.
