The Coalition of Muslim Organisations (COMOG) has congratulated Justice Issifu Imoro Tanko on his appointment to the Supreme Court.
Justice Tanko was among four persons sworn-in by President Akufo-Addo some days ago.
According to COMOG, it associates with the National Chief Imam’s Eid-Ul-Fitr message that the President’s decision is based on merit, muslims feel greatly indebted to him. They believe Justice Tanko’s appointment will serve as an inspiration to many up and coming Muslims to aspire to greater heights in the legal profession.
The statement further said they express “profound appreciation to the president for appointing the first Muslim, who has played a pivotal role in the affairs of the Muslim community in Ghana; to the Apex court of the land”.
The statement concluded by reminding the Muslim Ummah of the need to forge the spirit of forgiveness and support for one another.
“We have to build a sustainable tolerance for peaceful development while ensuring that we do not surrender or sacrifice the tenets of Islam, our most cherished faith”, the statement said.
