The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service says if the Electoral Commission (EC) decides to begin registration of voters, all Covid-19 safety protocol must be observed at the centres.
Dr Patrick Aboagye, speaking at a press conference Thursday, said the principles are the same for all work environments.
“It doesn’t really matter in this setting whether it’s in a factory or anything; the principles are the same and as long as you abide by it that should be okay,” Dr. Aboagye said.
He said the appropriate measures of mask wearing, hand washing and social distancing must be followed in all circumstances.
The comments follow the Commission’s outlining of some safety measures they intend to implement at registration centres once they begin the registration.

Critics, however, say the EC must wait until it is entirely safe before considering the registration.
For the NDC, compiling a new register for the December 7 elections is itself a nonstarter.
The party, as part of their protests have invoked the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court with the aim of stopping the EC.
Article 45/1 of the 1992 Constitution state that The Electoral Commission shall…compile the register of voters and revise it at such periods as may be determined by law.”
The party is seeking a declaration that upon a true and proper interpretation of the constitution, the EC can only compile the register once and subsequently revise it.
