Three people, including the driver of the District Chief Executive for Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region have been shot dead in suspected armed robbery attack.
The deceased who received multiple gunshot wounds were shot at different locations at Manso Dadease near Datano in the Amansie South District when the group of armed men stormed the community.
The armed men are said to have blocked the main road leading to the town in the wake of the attack whilst shooting indiscriminately at anyone they see at sight at about 7 p.m , Monday.
Driver of the District Chief Executive for Amansie South who has been described only as Osei was said to be returning from a public sensitization campaign on Covid-19 with District Health Director when the robbers shot through the windscreen of the vehicle.
The DCE, William Asante Bediako who was not onboard the vehicle at the time of the incident had released his official vehicle for the education drive ahead of Tuesday market day at Datano in the area.
The robbers are said to have shot a 60-year old unidentified man infront of his shop and another person on a motorbike.
Following a distress call to police by residents, police proceeded to the scene only to found bodies of the three persons in pool of blood in different locations.
The robbers fled before the arrival of the police.
The bodies have since been deposited at the St. Martin Hospital at Manso Agroyesum pending further investigations.
Meanwhile, Ashanti Regional Police command has dispatched a team of Crime Scene experts to the scene.
