The Tourism Ministry has said the Foreign Affairs Ministry is working on plans to fly home Ghanaians who are stranded abroad.
In an interview with Joy News’ Doreen Avio, Barbara Oteng Gyasi disclosed that government is aware of the frustrations and hardship celebrities stranded abroad are going through due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I know this is an issue which has gained public attention. We all recognise the position the people are in. You travel out of the country for a short period intending to come back home and then suddenly the borders are closed and you are stuck.
"I know the Foreign Affairs Ministry is working on plans to submit to government to consider [so let’s see what happens.” She said
Ghana has extended its border closure to May 31, in a bid to stem the tide on the Covid-19 pandemic leaving Ghanaian celebrities and other personalities stuck in foreign countries.
Celebrities like Sarkodie, Kwaw Kesse and Pappy Kojo have been affected by the border closures, and have called for a temporary lifting of the ban to enable them to come home.
