Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Barbara Oteng Gyasi has advised female artistes to promote the positive side of women and not use their weaknesses against themselves.
For some weeks now, there has been an ongoing lyrical war between some of Ghana’s female artistes.
Shots have been fired from all angles by Eno Barony, Sista Afia and Freda Rhymes over who is better than the other.
However, these shots have not been devoid of insults, body shaming and personal attacks.
A move which has received some backlash from the public.
Adding her voice to the issue, the Minister said, the female artistes don’t need to add insults to their music to promote their brands.
“It is unfortunate we maybe in an industry which strives on showbiz sometimes acting out of the norm, but we should be cognizance of our cultural background and the fact that we are women and as women we are expected to project ourselves in a certain way that impacts our generation,” she said
She advised that female artistes find more positive ways to promote their works and their brand and avoid the banter.
“So for our women artistes, there are so many ways that you can project yourselves positively and still make the impact that you need in the industry. You don’t need to engage in all those activities to promote your brand or product," she said.
