The Communication Directorate of aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jnr is disgusted with allegations levelled against the aspirant by MP for the constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Ms Safo, who is facing stiff competition from Ghana’s Ambassador to India is alleging that her life is in danger.
According to the Procurement Minister, the threats on her life may be coming from the Speaker of Parliament Prof. Mike Aaron Ocquaye and his family due to the competition for the Dome-Kwabenya seat.
She cited an incident that occurred two weeks ago when some people allegedly snatched the Dome Kwabenya Voter Album during an exhibition process at the Constituency Chairman’s residence.
But the Communication Directorate says all the allegations by the MP are false.
According to the team, it is a deliberate effort by the camp of the current MP to discredit the aspirant and gain her sympathy vote in the upcoming primaries.
“How can a scuffle which ensued at the house of the Chairman over a snatched album by a supporter of Adwoa Safo be construed as a threat to her life?
"Does Adwoa live in the House of the Chairman? How come her life feels threatened after two weeks of an unconnected incident, where no one was even hurt?” the statement indicated.
While calling for calm among the electorate, the Communication Directorate assured supporters the team will not be deterred by any "childish propaganda from unscrupulous people".
“We wish also to inform our cherished polling station executives and the general public that, Oquaye Junior did not task any of his supporters nor would ever task any of his supporters to besiege the Constituency Chairman’s residence nor cause mayhem.
“Our quest to fight for Polling Station Executives to liberate them from the challenges they are facing is essentially critical and our core mandate as well. It is only when we have executed same for all that we will be happy,” it concluded.
