The Minister of Health has encouraged Ghanaians to continue adhering to the handwashing measure touted by health experts as a sure way of reducing the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Addressing the press Tuesday, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu stated that personal hygiene is not anything new as it has been part of basic school curriculum for a long time. However, in practice, it has been largely ignored.
“Now it has become very necessary that we wash our hands frequently. Even on television they are now teaching us how to wash our hands efficiently,” he said.
He lauded individuals and market women associations who had gone ahead to purchase hand washing facilities for guests and customers.
He said even though the lockdown has been lifted, it has become even more necessary for these measures to be adhered to.
“Why wouldn’t we wash our hands very nicely so that we don’t infect ourselves and others?” he said.
