The Alliance for Consumer Protection (AFCOP) has called on the central bank to protect customers by offering more practicable measures to ease their financial burdens.

In a media release signed by its Convenor, Woelinam Dogbe, the group suggested measures that should be implemented by the bank.

According to the outfit, it is not for the Bank of Ghana to announce some measures such as interest reduction and waiver of mobile money transfer fees to for transfers up to ¢100.

“AFCOP believes these measures are mere tokenism. While some financial institutions have made public announcements on relief packages they have on offer for consumers, AFCOP believes some are mere for Public Relations (PR) purposes with no real benefits accruing to customers,” they stated.
