A Kia Rhino with registration number GT 6152-19 loaded with over 800 bags of charcoal has been involved in an accident at Grupe on the Sawla-Damongo road in the Savannah Region.
The incident which occurred around 7am, recorded no deaths.
The driver's mate who described the incident to Adom News' Rebecca Natomah said the vehicle was on its way to Accra when the accident happened.
He said upon reaching Grupe, just a few kilometers away from the bush where they went to load the charcoal, the gear and brakes of failed to work when the driver used them to steady the vehicle causing him to lose control.
Falling to its side in the middle of the road, vehicles traveling to Damongo and Tamale could not pass for several hours. The situation led to a serious traffic on the road.
It took the intervention of some passengers and drivers to clear the sacks of charcoal from the road to pave way for vehicles to pass.
