The Denkyira Development Association has mobilised resources to support the fight against the coronavirus in the three district assemblies under the Denkyira kingdom.
The items worth ¢100,000 was put together with the support of their members, both home and abroad as well as special contributions from KPMG and CBG Bank.
The items include customized metal stands, Veronica buckets, waste bins, wastewater basins, tissues, hand sanitisers, disinfectants and other detergents.
"The country and the world are on a crossroad, a period that has made tens of thousands succumb to the virus with even buoyant economies crumbling. So we thought it wise to help with our widow's mite," the Association said.
The Denkyira Development Association is a group made up of indigenes of Denkyira both home and abroad who champion the cause of development on their native land.
President of the Association, Joseph Barnor Lokko, at the donation of the items and the launch of an educational campaign called for a concerted effort to fight the virus.
“This is a national crisis that needs a national concerted effort to fight. We have taken the cue and I am happy to announce today, that the Denkyira Development Association is launching a campaign dubbed "Protection for you and I is protection for all."
The campaign, he explained will be the Associations’ way to lead the entire nation to fight against the Covid-19.
“We would like to use this opportunity to salute our gallant Frontliners comprising the Ghana Health Service, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Armed forces, the Ghana Navy and the Media”
The Association further said public education plays a major role in crisis management and control pandemics, hence its quest to collaborate with the media houses within the catchment areas for a “60-minute airtime per day sponsorship package” from Solar FM, Spark FM, Radio Visa and ATL FM.
“We are thankful to our media partners for the sponsorship slots and we are hopeful this opportunity will be of a great benefit to this nation,” he said.
The queen mother of the Denkyira kingdom, Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, thanked the Association for their kindness, care and show of love.
“As the queen-mother of this great kingdom, I sincerely appreciate your kind gesture. Such show of love is very commendable,” she said.
