The Bono region needs more Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) for health workers, Evelyn Kumi-Richardson, the Regional Minister has said.
The Minister says the PPEs would help to strengthen an "aggressive war" against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mrs. Kumi-Richardson said she was impressed about existing collaborations between security services, media, and the regional health directorate, so far in stemming the spread of the virus in the region.
She appealed to corporate institutions, NGOs and philanthropic organisations to supply more PPEs to protect health officials from contracting the virus.
Mrs Kumi-Richardson made the appeal when the Council of Brong-Ahafo Association of Northern America (COBANA) presented some PPEs to the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) at a short ceremony in Sunyani.
The items worth $8,000 comprise 2,100 nose masks, 1,500 hand sanitizers, several Veronica buckets, carbonated soaps and 150 cartons of hand gloves.
"COBANA has touched us deep in our heart and the government is ever grateful to the gesture", Mrs Kumi-Richardson stated.
She said the Bono region is succeeding in adherence to the social distancing protocols, hand washing with soap and sanitizers, and government restrictions.
"So far our region has not recorded any positive case of the virus and I think all stakeholders require commendation", she indicated.
Dr Kofi Issah, the Bono Regional Director of Health said the directorate had stepped up precautionary measures in all the health facilities to contain or manage any case and advised the populace to comply with all government restrictions and heed to advice from health officials to protect themselves.
Mr Paul Gyau, the former General Secretary of COBANA, said the association expected health facilities in rural areas benefit from the items.
He was accompanied by Mr William Sampene, Nana Owusuaa Ayebiafo, and Mrs Felicia Gyau, members of COBANA.
