Police in the Northern Region have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at Sagnarigu.
Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Otuo Acheampong, told JoyNews the two sustained injuries during arrest.
They are currently receiving treatment at the hospital under guard. He said the other suspects are on the run, JoyNews correspondent, Martina Bugri.
But Mr. Acheampong described the robbery as alien to the community.
He said the victim, a Forex Bureau operator went to a Hotel on the main Bolgatanga-Tamale road to meet some prospective business associates.
On arrival, however, he was told the hotel was not working due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Just then, two men rode in on a motorbike, shot at them and made away with ¢530,000 and an undisclosed amount of foreign currencies, the officer narrated.
He said they followed intelligence and arrested the two suspects in custody who suffered some injuries during arrest.
Superintendent Acheampong says the nature of the robbery is novel to the community but they are not ruling out local collaboration.
Prosecutors are considering two charges, conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
