Former Ghana international footballer Augustine Ahinful has explained why he has not taken up any coaching job despite having the needed qualification.

The former Black Stars striker holds Confederation of African Football (CAF) License A coaching certificate. He earned it after securing CAF License B and C certificates.

The License A certificate is the highest level of coaching license attainable and qualifies him to coach any team on the continent.

Also, majority of coaches in the world are former players. Ahinful's playing mate at the Black Stars Charles Akonnor is now the head coach of the senior national team.

But speaking on Saturday's Joy Sports' Link with Nathaniel Attoh, Ahinful said he has not managed a team yet because he has a different understanding of handling teams.

"I think that not all of us can be coaches but it is good to have it with you. Not all players can be good coaches," Ahinful said.

"The whole process helped me to know how to manage players. The time that we started the CAF license course, I was a member of the technical committee.

My understanding of how to handle teams may be different from how other coaches have. They need to get support. I have my way of handling things that is why I have not managed a team yet. I need to be allowed to control the technical aspect of the game."

In 2015, Ahinful and Akonnor worked as scouts for Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

The Black Stars reached the final of that tournament.
