The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has cautioned the public and media organisations not to fall victim to activities of lotto fraudsters using different platforms and communication strategies to dupe unsuspecting Ghanaians.
In a press release, the NLA said “these Lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants use radio stations, television stations, online platforms, Facebook, WhatsApp Platforms and other channels such as text messages, email and telephone calls.”
The lotto fraudsters, according to the NLA, have defrauded many people after creating gaming platforms using the name and logo of the NLA in different formats.
“The National Lottery Authority shall not be responsible for any losses incurred by unsuspecting people who are defrauded by these lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants.
“The National Lottery Authority would like to urge the public to be more vigilant, avoid greed and discontinue engaging the services of the lotto fraudsters and social media miscreants,” the NLA said in the press release.
The National Lottery Authority said its official short code for the 5/90 and VAG Lotto Games remains *890#.
“We would like to also caution the general public to discontinue patronizing theb2blotto.com and all other illegal Short Codes operating 590Games. Stay Home; Stay Safe; the Country needs you alive and healthy.
“Play your 5/90 and VAG Lotto Games via NLA Official Short Code *890# via Vodafone, AirtelTigo and MTN,” said the release issued by the Public Relations Unit of NLA.
