Tema Polyclinic, one of the major health facilities in Tema West Municipality has begun attending to all patients and rendering services following disinfection exercise last Saturday.
There were fears that the facility will be closed down after a community nurse who visits the hospital as part of her routine tested positive for Covid-19 last Friday.
But a visit to the hospital reveals patients are being attended to from outpatients department to wards with consulting rooms mirroring usual atmosphere at the facility.
This follows assurances from Tema West Municipal Health Director, Dr. Mercy Obrempong that the hospital will resume full services this week.
According to her, Tema West Municipal Assembly disinfected a section of the facility where the community nurse is said to have been last week.
She said premises of the hospital remains safe and authorities will continue to monitor the situation among other steps being taken to ensure safety of both staff and patients.
The directorate and the hospital are contact tracing to identify residents who have interacted with the case in the last few days.
The facility located at Community 2 attends to patients beyond Communities 1, 2 and 5.
Meanwhile, the community nurse is recuperating at home.
Ghana has 287 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 5 deaths and more than 1.4 million persons infected globally, out of which over 82,000 have died.
