The Speaker of Parliament, Mike Oquaye, has revealed he has tested negative for coronavirus.
His test, he said in Parliament on Saturday, was done on Wednesday. “My test results came negative praise the living God,” he said on the floor of the House.
Prof. Mike Oquaye, however, is not the only government official who has had to test for the virus.
President Akuffo Addo, the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo and their family, as well as Presidential Staffers, were made to test for the virus after allegedly coming into contact with suspected cases.
These tests also came back negative.
The Speaker said that provisions have also been made for all other staff and Members of Parliament who wish to get tested.
Meanwhile, sitting has been suspended indefinitely, due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The House will, however, be recalled to attend to business whenever it is deemed necessary.
