The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources in collaboration with Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies in Accra and Kumasi are set to undertake a “massive clean-up” of the two cities.
A statement from the Ministry said the exercise will start on Friday, April 3 and end on Sunday, the 5th.
The clean-up is part of the measures outlined by President Nana Akufo-Addo to keep Ghanaians safe in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry wrote.
“Members of the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) led by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Personnel from the Military and the Ghana National Fire Service will be in attendance to support the MMAs undertake the clean-up exercise.”
The exercise follows previous disinfection exercise carried out in markets in the two busiest cities in the country.
Accra Mayor, Mohammed Adjei Sowah told JoyNews’ Maxwell Agbagba at the Kantamanto market on March 23 that the exercise will be conducted regularly to protect the country against the threat of Covid-19.
