President Akufo-Addo, his wife and family have all tested negative for Covid-19, his physician Dr Patrina Tekyi-Ankrah has disclosed.
Also, staff who work for the president have also been tested. All the results are negative.
“A day before the president’s birthday, him, the first lady, his daughters and all the staff of his household and I am happy to announce that all the tests came negative.
“A day after his birthday, we continued to test people at the secretariat and as I speak now, a total of 99 persons have been tested and the results have come back negative,” Dr Tekyi-Ankrah said.
The confirmation comes after a social commentator, Kelvin Ebo Taylor claimed that a source at the Jubilee House had informed him that the President was positive.
But Dr Tekyi-Ankrah said the report is inaccurate.
She added that the President is being monitored and prompted to observe social distancing as he conducts and chairs many meetings as the fight against the coronavirus continues.
“If any of you observe that he is not wearing the mask, it is because he is observing social distancing strictly and we are making sure that he is washing his hands frequently and he is using hand sanitizers as well,” she indicated.
