The Health Minister has disclosed that as of Wednesday, April 1, 195 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country.
Kwaku Agyeman-Manu who made the disclosure as he addressed the media at a press briefing did not give further details on the new cases but said the death toll is still five.
Seven more Covid-19 patients have been discharged. This brings the total number to 38.
The Minister also disclosed that in Accra, the contact tracing team have reached 635 people. Out of this number, 589 samples have been taken and sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
In the Ashanti region where a 40-member team has been deployed to undertake surveillance, 160 people have been identified and contacted. From this, 22 samples have been taken for testing.
Mr Agyeman-Manu also disclosed that the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has also commenced testing. The move is part of government’s efforts to establish more testing centres.
