As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus to the Eastern Region, some Municipal and District assemblies have come together to put in place various measures to ensure the safety of residents.
The Assemblies, made up of Akuapem North, Akuapem South, New Juaben South and Okere say the influx of people to their municipalities due to the partial lockdown of Greater Accra and Kumasi as announced by President Akufo-Addo, is a source of great worry.
In a communiqué co-signed by the Municipal Chief Executive for Akuapem North and New Juaben South Municipal Assemblies, Dennis Edward Aboagye and Ike Appaw-Gyasi, respectively, all hotels and guest houses are to provide details of the number of visitors they have received from March 29, 2020 to date for the necessary action to be taken.
The four Assemblies are also asking pubs and drinking bars to shutdown effective Tuesday, March, 31 till further notice.
Markets within the municipalities are also expected to run a shift system so as to reduce the number of traders and ensure social distancing while the temperature of travelers to the region will be taken at various checkpoints.
