The Ghana Tourism Authority has ordered the closure of all beaches in the country until further notice.
The directive follows a trending video of some celebrities at a beach party over the weekend, in clear violation of President Akufo-Addo’s directives against public gatherings.
Although the Tourism Authority did not mention the incident, it said in a statement copied to JoyNews it will, with the support of National Security and the Ghana Police Service, “begin patrols of beaches from Tuesday, March 24, 2020, to ensure compliance with the closure order.”
Ghana has recorded 24 cases of COVID-19 out of which one person has died.
