Travellers will be facing more challenges as Africa World Airlines is suspending flights to two of its regional destinations - Abidjan and Freetown
This follows a directive from the government of Cote D’Ivoire and Sierra Leone as part of the containment measures against the coronavirus outbreak.
According to a statement from the Airline, “Further to the instructions issued by the Government of Cote D’Ivoire and the Government of Sierra Leone, Africa World Airlines will be suspending operations to Abidjan and Freetown with effect from 20 March 2020 and 22 March 2020 respectively.”
The statement added, “Passengers on cancelled flights will receive notification of the cancellation via their original booking channel, and may either rebook to a future date or seek a refund.”
AWA continues to operate flights from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Wa, Lagos, Abuja and Monrovia at this time.
However, the Chief Operations Officer of the Airlines Sean Mendez says the Airline is seeking further clarity on the issue with Cote D’Ivoire so that flights could be reinstated to Abidjan in a week.
