The Gender Minister has revealed that her outfit will train over 1000 individuals on how to make homemade hand sanitizers to be distributed in schools.
Cynthia Morrison interacting with the media after the Church of Pentecost Sunday service at Agona Swedru, the Minister said the initiative is to make the product accessible and affordable amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
According to her, some citizens do not have the habit of washing their hands regularly so when hand sanitizers are readily available to them, the virus could prevent many of them from getting infected.
She, therefore, called for sponsors and donors to support the initiative to ensure that it is a success.
Madam Morrison further encouraged Pastors and congregants to adopt preventive strategies during church service to combat the deadly pandemic.
She indicated that the use of sanitizers on microphones and other church instruments can reduce the spread of Coronavirus.
The Minister was, however, optimistic that a vaccine or cure will be discovered soon to curb the pandemic.
The initiative by the Gender Ministry comes after Health Minister, on Thursday, announced the first two cases of coronavirus in the country.
One of the carriers of the virus is said to be a Norwegian diplomat and the other a Ghanaian from Turkey.
