Ghanaian boxing legend Azumah "The Professor" Nelson will be inducted into Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in August this year.
The 61-year-old is among 10 fighters and four non-boxers who will be honoured on the weekend of August 7th & 8th at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas.
The inductees had fights in Nevada or were connected to the sport in the state during their careers.
Azumah, who is enshrined in the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York, is arguably one of the greatest fighters to ever come out of Africa and undoubtedly Ghana’s top pound for pound fighter of all time.
He is a three-time former world champion, ending his illustrious career with 39 wins (28 KOs), 6 draws and 2 loses in 47 fights.
Other fighters who will be inducted include Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas, Clarence “Bones” Adams, Andre “SOG” Ward, James “Lights Out” Toney, Miguel Cotto, Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson, Julian “The Hawk” Jackson, Danny “Little Red” Lopez, and Jose Luis Castillo.
Non-Boxer Inductees include Carlos Padilla (referee), Lorenzo Fertitta (NSAC commissioner), Sammy Macias (NSAC commissioner), and Jose Sulaiman (WBC President).
