Visiting Obuasi Ashantigold Sunday forced King Faisal to a pulsating 1-1 drawn game in their Glo Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
After a slow start of the game, Faisal shot into the lead against the run of play through Bashiru Osman who converted a spot-kick after he was brought down by Ashgold defender Umar Gariba in the 21st minute.
The home team seemed to have been gingered by the early goal as they attacked in burst but poor finishing by Micky Ofosu, Benjamin Boateng and Enoch Andoh denied them a second goal.
In the second half, Ashgold switched their play to the front as they operated effectively upfront with Yusif Abdul Aziz, Frederick Quayson and Ellesan Mensah giving the Faisal defence a hectic time as they bombarded the goal area with series of attacks.
The equalizer therefore came as a matter of course as the determined Ashgold side scored through Abdul Aziz who sneaked into the opponents goal area to head home a Frank Adomako’s in-swinger in the 61st minute.
Ashgold who were determined to increase the tally nearly stunned Faisal in the 85th minute but Quayson shot feebly into the waiting hands of goalkeeper Sam Okyere from a solo effort after he outpaced three defenders.
In another encounter at the Abramkese Anane Boateng Stadium, near Kumasi, Kessben beat Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals 2-1.
