District Directors of the Ghana Health Service, at the weekend, entreated stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS not to be complacent with the fight against the pandemic because of the drop in the prevalence rate.
They also encouraged Ghanaians to adopt healthy life styles, like stress-free habits and undertake regular medical check-ups to enable them to remain fit and strong.
This was contained in a six- point communiqué issued at the end of the 17th annual District Directors of Health Conference, in Cape Coast on the theme: "Improving health delivery amidst dwindling resources: a challenge for the district directors of health services.”
Dr Yaw Ofori Yeboah, the out-going Chairman of the conference, who read the communiqué, called on the government to as a matter of urgency provide the necessary infrastructure, logistics and equipment to all public health facilities to enhance health care delivery.
The directors also called on the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Health Insurance Authority, to ensure prompt reimbursement of all insurance claims to the health facilities, to enable them to efficiently provide the health care needs of the public.
They appealed to the MOH and the Controller and Accountant-Generals Department, to ensure prompt payment of salaries of all newly recruited health personnel, stressing that the undue delay was affecting morale.
The communiqué urged the Ministries of the Interior and Roads and Transport to implement pragmatic policies and programmes to help stem the tide of road accidents.
