Reports reaching Joy News indicate there is yet another shooting in the Bawku Municipality Thursday afternoon.
It is unclear whether a victim of the shooting, an unidentified young man, has survived the attack after being rushed to hospital.
An eye witness, David Balko told Joy News’ Matilda Asante Asiedu that what may have triggered the latest shooting was not readily known.
He said residents were busy trading at a market square near the Bawku police station when the incident occurred.
Mr Balko said the security agencies acted with dispatch and took the victim to the hospital while taking charge of the situation.
He said shoppers and other traders could be seen rushing to the safety of their homes.
No one had been arrested in connection with the shooting at the time of filing this report.
The Upper East Regional commercial town has been the scene of violent clashes between Kussasis and Mamprusis in recent times.
Efforts to resolve differences between the two ethnic groups and facilitate the peace process have so far proven ineffective as a result of intransigence on the part of the belligerent factions.
Currently Bawku is under an 8p.m. to 6a.m. curfew.
