A 40-year-old security man of the Akyem Anyinam branch of the Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) Abass Ali, was allegedly attacked at his duty post by one Kwaku Asante of Anyinam, resulting in his death.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the deceased confided in someone, a few days before he died, that he was attacked with a cutlass by the suspect without any provocation while on his normal duty that fateful day.
The deceased was rushed to the Anyinam Health Centre for treatment from multiple cutlass wounds all over his head, but was referred to the Hawa Memorial Hospital at Osiem where he died.
The suspect is therefore in police grips assisting in investigations following the revelation that he was mentioned by the deceased as the one who attacked him.
ASP Nketia-Yeboah, said before the attack, the wife of the suspect had an issue with the deceased, which had resulted in an assault case pending before the court.
