Cocoa farmers in Nsuta in the Techiman Municipality have urged the government to pay their bonuses to them to sustain the mass cocoa spraying exercise.
Mr Benjamin Kusi, spokesman for the farmers in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, maintained that the initiative by the previous government had boosted the production of the crop and must not be abandoned.
He noted with regret that farmers continued to face difficulties in the purchase of farm inputs like cutlasses and fertilizers.
Mr Kusi urged the government to grant farmers subsidies to enable the youth to develop interest in agricultural activities.
He advised the youth to regard farming as a lucrative economic venture and use their energies profitably instead of engaging in anti-social activities.
