Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has urged the Church to train people to become morally upright to enable them to take up leadership positions at the grass roots and national levels of governance.
He said the Church might fail the people if it could not help train people for the manpower needs of the country.
Mr. Ankrah made the call at the opening of the Second National Convention of the Men’s Ministry of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), under the theme “Fulfilling God’s Purpose through Your Gifts”, in Accra on Saturday.
He stressed that the Church must train leaders that would not fall prey to corrupt practices and deviant behaviour, adding that the religious organisation was a development partner, especially in local governance.
Mr. Ankrah said the biggest dilemma that faced the Church and the nation was how to help young children identify their talents.
