Ghana’s new fitness coach Jamie Lawrence is unhappy with the fitness of some of the players of the Black Stars with the Africa Cup Nations in Equatorial Guinea looming.
The former Jamaica international has been putting the Black Stars through their paces for the tournament which starts on 17 January.
The Black Stars started their training for this month’s tournament last week in Accra with the former Leicester City player joining the team for the first time.
Even though Lawrence is delighted with the chance to work with the Black Stars he is not happy about the fitness of some of the players.
“It has been a good experience for me personally and am ready for the task ahead,” Jamie Lawrence told Sports Crusader.
“The players are doing their maximum best but I think that some of them will have to up their condition, it is not even up to satisfactory.”
Lawrence has about two weeks to get the fitness of the Black Stars up to scratch as they prepare for their group matches against Senegal, Algeria and South Africa.
