Fire gutted the Offices of the Ghana Immigration Services (GIS) in Kumasi on Friday and destroyed a few items.
The items included extension boards, chairs, tables and a refrigerator.
Mr. Emmanuel Yirenkyi, Ashanti Regional Commander of the Ghana Immigration Services told the GNA that the fire outbreak was detected at 9:30 am by a Security man at the Statistical Services Department.
He said he quickly informed the Ghana National Fire Service Personnel who immediately rushed to the scene to put the fire under control.
Mr. Yirenkyi said the fire might have been caused by an electrical fault.
He expressed happiness that the fire did not cause extensive damage.
He also concern about congestion at the offices of the Service in addition to poor electrical wiring and said the Service was doing everything possible to find a more spacious accommodation.
