The Ashanti Regional Police Command has outlined its vision for 2015 and beyond which include rolling out new police stations in every jurisdiction.
The move is to extend police visibility and accessibility to the sprawling suburbs to ensure effective policing.
Some police divisions like Asokwa and Sofoline oversee several communities making it impossible to provide maximum security. Towns like Ahenema Kokoben where an Ecobank Manager was shot dead by robbers recently have no police station.
Speaking at a media soiree, Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye announced his focus is to provide police stations in every community.
“What I mean is that there should be a police station in Ash Town, there should be a police station in Manhyia, there should be a police station in Dichemso, Brahabebumi, Ebokrom, and if you have police stations in all these suburbs then our dream of having police visibility and accessibility is becoming to full reality.”
The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye insisted, “We are fighting to make Ashanti Region one of the most peaceful regions in the country.”
DCOP also asked for forgiveness from the media if himself or any of his men had incurred their displeasure due to certain infractions; likewise, he said, journalists who fabricated and published malicious stories against the command have been forgiven.
