Vice President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday joined the congregation of the Fountain Gate Chapel (FGC) in Bolgatanga to mourn the death of six members of the church who died in a road accident on Good Friday.
Two of the deceased were daughters of Reverend Eastwood Anaba, head pastor of FGC.
At a thanksgiving service held for four of the deceased, Vice President Mahama extended government’s condolences to the bereaved families.
He told the families that their loss was also a big loss to the nation and that they should be comforted by the fact that many people were sympathizing with them. “We would always stand by you,” he added.
He described the bereaved families as true children of God and urged them to remain steadfast in their faith.
In a sermon, Rev. Anaba noted that the Church had made a great impact in the development of northern Ghana but said more needed to be done.
The FGC lost six members, including a pastor, in a motor accident when they were travelling to Bolgatanga to take part in a conference organized by the Church as part of its Easter activities.
