A Ghanaian based in Germany had the shock of his life when he was arrested by the police at New Fadama, Accra, where he was holding a wedding reception after marrying a second wife.
Gabriel Konassi Doe, 52, a businessman, was arrested for allegedly defrauding Chief Petty Officer Peter Kojo Kyei (complainant) of the Ghana Navy at Takoradi, his-in-Iaw, of GH¢6,563 under the pretext of buying him a tractor.
DSP Ebenezer Oppong, the Accra West Police Divisional Crime Officer, told The Spectator that the suspect Who was married to the complainant's sister, Cecilia Kyei of La in Accra, used to visit home regularly but from 2006, he stopped visiting and they did not hear from him again.
The complainant later had information that the suspect was about to hold a wedding reception at New Fadama on Thursday, April 16, having signed a marriage register at the Registrar General's Department in Accra.
Pastors from All Nation for Christ International Church at Asylum Down in Accra were waiting to offer prayers when the police arrested the suspect.
Mr Oppong said the suspect admitted befriending the complainant's sister but said he did that as a "marriage of convenience" to assist the woman to travel to the USA.

Ms Kyei however insisted that she had formerly married to the suspect and even transferred GH¢ 700 to the suspect in Germany recently.
That money was meant to buy passenger seats into a bus the suspect claimed to have bought for her. Ms Kyei said she did not hear of the presence of the suspect in the country until they got wind that he was about to marry a second wife.
Meanwhile the suspect is on a GH¢1 0,000 police enquiry bail with two sureties to be justified.
