A circuit court in Kumasi, has sentenced Yakubu Mohammed, 18, and Iddrisu Ibrahim, 21, to 300 months imprisonment each with hard labour for attacking and robbing a security man.
The suspected armed robbers pleaded guilty to the charges of conspiracy and robbery.
Police Chief Inspector Archibald Kwesi Fandoh told the court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that Iddrisu was a labourer and Mohammed was a herdsman.
Prosecution said the complainant, Abdulai Mumuni, a Muslim, was attacked by the accused persons at 1240 hours when he was saying prayers at Roman Hill in Kumasi.
Chief Inspector Fandoh said Mohammed seized a bag containing GH¢100 and mobile phone worth GH¢150 from Mumuni at gun point.
Prosecution said that the complainant raised the alarm which attracted other security men and the armed robbers were arrested.
Chief Insp. Fandoh said the robbers were handed over to the police and when a search was conducted on them, a pistol and a bag containing the money and phone were found.
