A 14-year-old girl rescued only last week from prostitution has returned to her trade.
Madam Yvonne Zieba, an aunt of the child prostitute, told Joy News that the young girl under her care refuses to stay in school but notoriously prefers to engage in prostitution to earn money.
The young prostitute was last week rescued by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service, after it came to the notice of officials that an unidentified woman had recruited her and four others to engage in prostitution in Accra.
The girl, while in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare, attempted to commit suicide during the night but her room mates alerted authorities who rescued her.
Her mother who claimed she was tired of trying to convince the young prostitute against her habit, rejected her when she was returned to her by DOVVSU officials, claiming she had better spent her energies and resources educating her other children.
