Employment Minister Stephen Amornor Kwao has blamed the delay of the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure on a missing document.
Speaking to Joy News the Minister said the document is crucial without which the policy cannot be implemented.
The Ghana National Association of Teachers last week issued a ten day ultimatum to the Education Ministry to implement the policy or it will advise itself.
But Mr Amoanor Kwao said the government cannot meet the deadline.
He explained the missing document which was formulated by the erstwhile New Patriotic Party government to guide the implementation of the policy could not be traced after several failed attempts.
“I was told it was with the Chief Director but I have asked and he says it is not with him,” he noted.
According to him, government will within the week convene a meeting with a technical team in order to find a solution to the problem.
He expressed government’s commitment towards implementing the policy and called on stake holders to exercise restraint.
