Over GH¢10,000 has been received as part of donations towards this year’s JOY FM Easter Soup Kitchen scheduled for the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park this Sunday.
Many corporate institutions and individuals have also donated assorted items including rice, fish and meat, cooking oil as well as drinks running into several thousands of Ghana cedis for the event.
The station plans to feed over 15,000 street children during the tenth edition of the event.
Director of Programmes, Kofi Owusu, tells JOY News that the station is impressed with the public support for the event.
He however indicated that beyond feeding the street children, the station’s ultimate aim is to highlight the plight of street children for the necessary attention from the relevant stakeholders.
Touching on preparations for the event, Gabriel Appiah of the Events and Promotions Desk, indicated that all is set for a successful event come this Sunday.
Some of the donors who spoke to JOY News noted that their desire to help others, especially the vulnerable and underprivileged in society, motivated them to donate towards this year’s event.
