Nana Addo to resort to court over seized car

Aides to Nana Akufo-Addo have hinted that the 2008 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party may resort to the courts to retrieve his car if his patience is stretched. Nana Akufo-Addo’s car was impounded by the NDC government soon after assumption of power, with the excuse of being a state car. The land cruiser vehicle was subsequently returned to Nana Addo and an apology granted accordingly from the Presidency. Another car belonging to him was impounded at a garage in Accra and has since been in the custody of the Presidency at the Castle. Spokesperson for the NPP 2008 flagbearer, Mustapha Hamid, in an interview with Citi News said he believes the locking away of his boss’ car is a deliberate attempt to provoke him into making comments, which may then be misinterpreted. He intimated that a legal option may not be a far-fetched. “There is a deliberate attempt to provoke Nana Addo to as they say, go ballistic and then they will then label him as impatient, erratic, intolerant etc. I mean all of those things that the NDC sought to heap on him during the election they are looking for ways of justifying those claims.” “Therefore we will be patient a bit. Even at a point if we believe that this getting too much and it is a lot of impunity, we will go to the court and then compel the court to get them to release our vehicles for us but we will do it in a very civil and coordinated and careful, slow, deliberate, patient manner and Nana will be out of it anyway. There is no way they are going to get Nana Addo to speak anyway,” he said. Mustapha Hamid says attempts to retrieve the vehicle have so far not yielded any result. “They said they were going to get back to us so it is not as if they said come back everyday, no, so they said they will get back to us so when they say they will get back to us, what it means is that ‘don’t come again, when we are ready, we will call you’ so we are just waiting,” he said. “He is virtually unperturbed about this matter, believe me. As I speak with you right now, we are on our way to do our official duties. Nana Addo is not bothered at all, he going about his duties. Let them do as they please”, he added. According to Mustapha Hamid, the National Security Agency claims to be conducting investigations on the vehicle and thus they patiently wait on the outcome. By: citifmonline.com
