Dozens of police personnel have cordoned off the main road leading to the Italian Embassy in Accra, Monday.
It is not immediately clear what danger may have drawn the police in such massive moblization but Joy FM’s Sammy Darko reporting from the scene said the officers were heavily armed.
“The reason is very unclear and patchy; neither the police nor the Embassy officials will speak on why the police presence here,” he said.
Except staff of the Embassy, everybody has been denied access to the building, bringing business at the Embassy to a halt and visa applicants stranded.
A gentleman who was supposed to attend a visa application interview has lamented on the situation thus; “We were here before the policemen came and said that they are here to provide the Embassy with the necessary security so we should go and come another day”.
Meanwhile visa applicants were loitering around hoping the situation would get under control for them to attend their interviews.
