Africans ready for Under-20 draw

Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa and Cameroon all join hosts Egypt in Sunday's draw for this year's Under-20 World Cup. The draw for the tournament, which kicks off on 24 September, is being held in the historic surroundings of the Luxor Temple. A total of 24 nations are in the draw and football's world governing body, Fifa, have divided the teams into four pots of six so that two teams from the same confederation cannot be drawn in the same group for the finals. All five nations will be bidding to become the first African winners of the tournament in its 32 year history. The four qualifiers all reached Egypt by reaching the semi-finals at the African Youth Championship in Rwanda in January. Ghana are the African champions after beating Cameroon 2-0 in the final. Nigeria and Ghana have come the closest to being crowned the World champions, both have finished as runners-up twice in the past. Samson Siasia, who led Nigeria the final in 2005, is once again in charge of the Flying Eagles after coaching the country's U-23 side to an Olympic Silver Medal last September. "Nigerians have shown me love since 2005 and when the people call me once again I have no other alternatives," Siasia told Fifa's website. "I'm confident we can turn things around as soon as possible, and for the Under-20 World Cup, I need the support of everyone to succeed. "We have all the material we need in Nigeria to achieve success but good attitude, professionalism and dedication from all matters a lot." Hosts Egypt's best finish at the tournament was third in 2001 in Argentina. This will be Cameroon's fifth Under-20 World Cup but their first since 1999 and they have never got past the quarter-final stage. South Africa are at just their second Under-20 World Cup after reaching the finals in 1997 in Malaysia, where they drew just one of their group games.
