Unit Committee members at Kuano near Suhum have arrested Issa Amuzu, believed to be among a gang of thugs who killed Ebenezer Akornotey, a 52-year old store keeper, at Kwano in the Eastern Region, last year.
The Gyasehene of Kwano, Nana Kwabena Addo, told GNA that the suspect was currently in police custody.
He said on 8 March this year, Amuzu bought cigarette from Kwabena Gyamfi in the night and left for his house.
Nana Addo said about an hour later, Amuzu returned to knock at the door of Gyamfi who was asleep.
He said when Gyamfi opened the door Amuzu attacked him and hit his head with a stone and Gyamfi fell down.
Nana Addo said suddenly, unidentified persons emerged and together with Amuzu rushed on Gyamfi and when he raised the alarm they fled.
The chief said Amuzu who left his sandals behind was arrested.
It would be recall that in December last year, Akornotey was murdered in his room and later dragged to a nearby cocoa farm after some unidentified men went to his house in the might to buy cigarette.
