The mortal remains of Vice-Admiral Emmanuel Osei Owusu-Ansah (Rtd), a former Chief of Naval Staff, were on Thursday interred at the Antoa cemetery in the Kwabre District.
A 15-gun salute heralded the burial of the deceased whose coffin was wrapped in the national colours.
Some ministers of state, officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces and traditional rulers attended the burial ceremony.
He is survived by a wife and a son.
Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (retd), the National Security Advisor, laid a wreath on behalf of the government and people of Ghana.
Other wreaths were laid on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, GAF, Ghana Navy and the Association of Retired Naval Officers.
His son laid one on behalf of his mother and himself.
In the burial service the Rev Nyarko Teiko of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana lauded the deceased for contributing his quota to the nation’s development.
He described him as a very humble, honest and God-fearing man.
Rev. Teiko said since the life of the deceased was worthy of emulation, the younger generation should follow his good example to enhance the nation’s socio-economic development.
Earlier at a church service tributes were paid by the family of the deceased, GAF, the Association of the Retired Naval Officers, the Fisheries Commission, Ghana Ports and Harbours’ Authority, some ministers of state as well as schools in the Kwabre District.
