A circuit court at Agona Swedru, granted 19,000 Ghana cedis bail with two sureties to an assistant director of education in the Agona West Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service, for indecent assault on a 10-year-old girl.
Ebenezer Korfa Dzimaku, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, would reappear before the court on April 6, 2009.
Police Chief Inspector N. K. Kwofie told the court presided over by Mr Nathaniel Osam that the accused, who also claimed to be a herbalist, was treating the victim's father from stroke.
Prosecution said that on 11 February 2009, the accused went to the home of the girl’s father to administer herbal medicine on him.
Chief Insp. Kwofie said the accused person did not meet the patient but met the girl.
According to prosecution, the accused asked the girl to accompany him to buy chewing gum and on the way, Dzimaku inserted his finger into the private part of the girl and gave her one Ghana cedi and cautioned her not to tell any one about the matter.
Chief Inspector Kwofie told the court that when the girl returned home, her senior sister noticed that she (victim) was not walking the normally.
Prosecution said when the victim was interrogated by her elder sister, she narrated the case, saying that it was the fourth time the accused had subjected her to the ordeal and that the accused attempted having sex with her.
A medical report indicated that the girl had been indecently assaulted.
