Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho-West, Mr Emmanuel Kwesi Bedzrah, has presented 20 sets of football jerseys and 20 balls worth 7000 Ghana Cedis to seven Senior High Schools (SHS) and 13 community football clubs in the constituency.
The beneficiary schools are Kpedze, Abutia, Akome, Avatime and Awudome Senior High Schools as well as Tsito Secondary Technical and Dzolo Secondary Technical Schools.
Making the donation to the Tsito Senior High School, Mr Bedzrah noted that since sports development constituted one of the main priorities of the government there was the need for especially students to give equal attention to sports as well as for their academic work.
Mr Bedzrah said sports offer as much opportunities for success in life just as academic pursuit because people are gifted differently.
The MP said sports also aims at instilling the values of healthy and fair competition among students and offer opportunities for positive socialization and exercises for good health.
Mr Bedzrah urged competing teams to be sportsmanly in defeat just as in victory.
Mr G. O. Y. Bonuedie, Headmaster of Awudome SHS on behalf of the recipient schools thanked Mr Bedzrah for the donation and urged others to help motivate students and the youth to develop their interest in sports.
Community clubs which also received a set of jerseys and a football each included Saviefe, Dzolo, Kpedze, Abutia, Tsito and Anyirwase, Doglome, Awlime, Tedeafenu, Aemdzofe and Dededo.
