Samuel Komla Amedorme, Hohoe branch manager of Unique Shepherd Micro Finance Company Limited, has been remanded in prison custody by a Hohoe Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding 140 clients to the tune of ¢4,200.
Amedorme pleaded not guilty to the charge and will reappear on Monday, March 9.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Mr. Samuel Gbedemah, told the court presided over by Mr. Edward Apenkwa that complainants and Amedorme were staff of the Hohoe branch of the Micro Finance Company, which had its headquarters in Weija, Accra.
He said between October and December 2008, Amedorme as the branch manager, instructed the complainants to collect GH¢30.00 each from the 140 registered clients under the pretext of securing loans for them.
Mr. Gbedemah said a total ofGH ¢4,200 was collected and handed over to the suspect but that was the last time the complainants saw him.
He said Amedorme was arrested in Accra on January, 29 and said he collected only GH¢1,200, which he claimed he deposited in the company’s account in Accra.
Mr. Gbedemah said investigations revealed that only GH¢530.00 was deposited at the Tema branch of Amalgamated Bank Limited by Amedorme.
He said the management team of the company was at large, having misappropriated funds belonging to the company.
