A 23-year-old man met his untimely death at a stone quarry site at Akoon, a suburb of Tarkwa, when a Mercedes Benz Tipper truck loaded with chipped stones run over his head.
The Mercedes Benz Tipper truck with registration number “GR7348R” was transporting the chips from the quarry site to Brahabobom near Tarkwa for a building project.
According to the Tarkwa Divisional Commander of Motor Traffic and
Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service D.S.P. Isaac Sorkpah, who
confirmed the incident to GNA, the deceased who is the caretaker of
the truck and doubles as a driver’s mate attempted to remove a stone
which was used to block the truck.
Unfortunately the caretaker fell down and the truck ran over his head.
DSP Sorkpah said the body has been deposited at Tarkwa government hospital morgue pending further investigations into the accident.
He said the driver of the truck, Adamah Musah 27, was a spare driver who took over from the original driver who had travelled.
